How to Use CWShredder to Scan for CoolWebSearch Variants

CWShredder program icon

CWShredder is a specialized spyware scanning application which scans for and removes variants of CoolWebSearch, historically one of the most obnoxious and difficult to remove examples of verminware. It can be download free of charge from InterMute, now a part of Trend Micro. Run it anytime another scanning program detects anything related to CoolWebSearch to make sure all traces of the malware have been eliminated.

CWShredder does not perform a Web update or use definition files. New versions of CWShredder are released as necessary to keep up with new variants oc CoolWebSearch. Do not retain CWShredder after using, but rather download a fresh copy each time it is used. It is important that you scan with a fresh copy of this program.

  1. Double-click cwshredder to open it, either on your Desktop, or in a folder where it has been previously downloaded. Click the Fix-> button to start scanning. During the scan the results will be displayed.

  2. Click Next-> and then Exit to exit CWShredder.

  3. If CWShredder does not succeed in removing all remnants of CoolWebSearch variants from your computer, you may require the assistance of a qualifies technician, or support from your computer manufacturer or Microsoft.

Scan with CWShredder whenever you have reason to believe that there is a variant of CWShredder on your computer.
